What is OpenMAIC?

OpenMAIC (Open Multi-Agent Interactive Classroom) is an open-source education platform developed by Tsinghua University that converts any topic or uploaded document into a complete, immersive classroom experience with a single prompt. The system orchestrates multiple specialized AI agents — including teachers with distinct personalities, teaching assistants, and simulated classmates — to deliver structured lessons featuring slides, voice narration, real-time quizzes, HTML simulations, and collaborative whiteboard sessions. Originally deployed internally at Tsinghua University as 'MAIC' and validated with over 700 real students, OpenMAIC is now publicly available for self-hosting or cloud use, with integration support for popular messaging platforms via OpenClaw.
