Product Overview
What is Happy Coder?
Happy Coder is an open-source tool that extends Claude Code beyond the terminal, allowing developers to spawn, monitor, and control multiple Claude Code sessions from their phone, tablet, or web browser. It consists of three components working in tandem: a CLI program running on your machine, a mobile/web app for remote access, and a relay server that bridges the two over encrypted channels. Because all data is end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device, the relay server never has visibility into your code or commands. Happy Coder requires no changes to your existing workflow and is free under the MIT license.
Key Features
Remote Claude Code Control
Start a Claude Code session on your machine via the CLI, then seamlessly continue monitoring and controlling it from iOS, Android, or any web browser.
End-to-End Encryption
All data is encrypted with a shared secret key exchanged via QR code between your devices. The relay server only ever handles encrypted blobs it cannot read.
Real-Time Voice Execution
Issue voice commands that translate directly into coding actions — not just transcription, but true voice-to-action control for hands-free development.
Parallel Session Management
Run multiple Claude Code instances simultaneously across different projects or machines, switching between frontend, backend, and DevOps tasks without losing context.
Smart Push Notifications
Receive alerts when your input is required, when code is ready for review, or when an error occurs — so you stay in the loop without watching the screen.
Self-Hostable Relay Server
The relay server is only ~900 lines of code, fully open source, and easy to self-host in minutes for teams that prefer full infrastructure control.
Use Cases
- On-the-Go Development : Developers can kick off long-running coding tasks on a home or office machine, then monitor and steer Claude Code from their phone while commuting or traveling.
- Hands-Free Coding : Use voice commands to instruct Claude Code to write, debug, or refactor code while your hands are occupied — during commutes, workouts, or low-dexterity situations.
- Multi-Project Parallelism : Engineering teams or solo developers juggling several codebases can run simultaneous Claude Code agents and track their progress from a single mobile interface.
- Intermittent Connectivity Workflows : The relay server buffers encrypted updates, so developers in low-signal environments (trains, hiking, etc.) catch up on all Claude Code activity when connectivity resumes.
