What is Hermes Agent?

Hermes Agent is an open-source autonomous agent built by Nous Research, the lab behind the Hermes, Nomos, and Psyche model families. Unlike IDE-bound coding copilots or single-API chatbot wrappers, Hermes Agent runs on your own infrastructure — from a $5 VPS to serverless platforms like Daytona and Modal — and becomes more capable the longer it operates. It features a closed learning loop that autonomously creates and refines skills, maintains persistent cross-session memory, and builds a deepening model of the user over time. It connects to 14+ messaging and productivity platforms and supports any LLM provider via OpenRouter, OpenAI, Nous Portal, or custom endpoints.
